The Night Life

Field Blog #4:

This week I decided to visit my field site a lot later than I usually do, and boy does socialize hall like to come out at night. The noise and hype level was triple the amount it usually s during the late afternoon. Everyone and their mother decided to come. The rooms were so filled that some people had to site on the floors because there weren't any more chairs to be used.

Because of how late it was, I unfortunately had to do more homework than note taking of my environment. However, the noise was so loud that a test that I normally take in 15 minutes took me the whole 45 minutes to do. Even though it was night time, the energy levels of all the athletes were at its peak. I stayed all the way until socialize hall’s closing time and there was not one second of silence.

After attempting to take my test, I decided to visit Hat in single room number five since there was an empty chair. Hat and I both had homework that needed to be finished, but that of course didn't stop her from trying to make conversation. We would both work for 10 minutes and then talk for 10 minutes continuously, but we still were getting more work done than anyone would have in the group rooms.

Socialize hall always seems to be livelier at night. If someone were looking for a place of peace and quiet to get work done for the night, this would definitely not be the place to go.
