Laundry Sunday

It is Sunday night at Garcia, and I have come to the conclusion that this is laundry day. It is about nine o-clock and every washer and dryer is being used. As I sit outside my room there are people walking back and forth to check if any washers are available. It is quite amusing to watch people walk back and forth to the laundry room because they carry all of their laundry and detergent to the laundry room to find out that there are no open spots, so then they walk back to their room angry.

On the second floor there is one guy, wearing a white v-neck and red basketball shorts, walking towards the laundry room. He lives at the very end of the hall about 15 rooms away from the laundry room. He was carrying a big white canister full of dirty laundry, and he looked like he was struggling to carry it because he was also carrying his detergent on his right hand. He got to the laundry room and got angry when he saw that there were no open washers. He walked back to his room all angry. I could tell he was angry because as he walked into his room he slammed the door behind him.

On the third floor there were a couple of people waiting on the washers to be available. One girl, on the same hall as me, walked right in front of me into the laundry room with all of her dirty clothes, and as she came back she was complaining about something I could not quite hear. As she got closer to me I asked her what the problem was, and she told me that two of the three washers were already available for use, but no one had gotten there to take out their clothes yet.

This is one of the biggest issues with the laundry room and the cause of why so many people are walking around angry. People lose track of their laundry and do not go back to check on it, and they leave it in the washer longer than they should, causing others to not be able to wash their clothes.

Based off all these observations I came to the conclusion that doing laundry is very frustrating for a lot of people. Some individuals get lucky and catch an available washer while others will have to wait an hour of more until they get an available washer.

About every seven out of ten people that I see pass by these halls head to the laundry room, and about every five out of those six people walk back to their dorms with their dirty laundry still in their hands.
Sunday evenings seem to be the days that most individuals choose to do their laundry. This is probably because it is a weekend and most people have nothing to do, so everyone chooses to do their laundry on these particular days out of the week.

If you are wanting to do your laundry, and not have to struggle with finding an available washer, then your best chances are probably to do your laundry on a weekday.
