Sunflower Afternoon

Today the café environment is loud and you can hear the lovely tone of Norah Jones’ voice in the background. The atmosphere is bright and sunny and people have smiles on their faces. The café is much busier compared to the bookstore and today the café is filled with some interesting characters.

There is a couple to the left of me who sits next to each other on the booth side. The male had just returned from ordering their food and immediately slid over to his darling and put his arm around her. While they waited for their food, the female was busy texting and searching through her Instagram and Facebook feeds. The male would occasionally rub her back. A few minutes later his name was called by the cashier and he went to bring back the food.

In the tray he brought back was two iced drinks and a toasted bagel placed on a plain white plate. Once the food arrived the woman put down her phone and the couple devoured the bagel together. They would occasionally laugh throughout their conversation. Once the bagel was gone, Delivery Boy returned the plate to the cashier and the female picked up her phone again texting another person. After Delivery Boy returned from delivering the plate to its homeland the couple picked up their iced drinks and walked out of the café hand in hand into the sunshine.

Across from me sit two young college students, both females; one happens to be dressed up in a sunflower dress with a burgundy cardigan while the other is dressed casually with shorts, and a striped shirt. Ms. Stripes has her laptop open and Ms. Sunflower has a small tablet along with a notepad sitting on the table.  Both are very talkative and seem to be enjoying themselves. Ms. Stripes has a large Arizona Iced Tea and Ms. Sunflower has a plastic water bottle.

A girl to the left of me waves a fan around to cool herself; she is dressed in a black dress. The Woman in Black puts down her fan and walks over to where Ms. Stripes and Ms. Sunflower’s table is, tells a short tale of gossip to Ms. Sunflower, and then she walks into the bookstore and disappears. Ms. Stripes and Ms. Sunflower continue to laugh and chat. After a while the Woman in Black returns to the café area and has a book in hand. Ms. Sunflower begins to wrap up the conversation with Ms. Stripes, says goodbye, then goes over to the table where the Woman in Black is sitting. Ms. Sunflower and the Woman in Black pack up their things and leave the café.  Ms. Stripes also begins to pack up her things and leaves a few minutes after Ms. Sunflower and the Woman in Black left.

As Ms. Stripes walks out of the building a new interesting figure walks in. A man in a full black motorcycle suit arrives and he carries a motorcycle helmet, which happens to have a camera on top of it. Not only does he have a camera on top of his helmet, but he also carries a professional Nikon camera which is strung around his neck. Motorcycle Man puts his valuable items down, which all happen to be black and he walks over to the cashier to order some food. While he waits for his refreshment Motorcycle Man sits down and looks through a black notebook he has on the table, and begins writing in it. After his name was called by the cashier he picks up an iced coffee and returns to his table. He then picks up a newspaper and begins reading it while taking frequent sips from his iced coffee.

Across from Motorcycle Man sit two young women who appear to be college students. One gets up from the table and purchases an Iced Tea while the other girl stays at the table with her Keva Juice and keeps herself busy by texting someone. After the other female returns with her Iced Tea they begin the classic girl talk which is comprised of laughter, boys, personal problems and gossip.
