24 Hours

Gym time. Who even likes the gym anyways? 6:00 PM and there's not even a parking space in sight. I am assuming that the people who have a membership to this place like to come in the evening when they get out of work.

I walk in, a young worker in uniform takes my membership number down and smiles as I walk away. Straight to the locker room.

I walk into the locker room and immediately hear two ladies talking about what they just did in their workout. Which machines they used and how long they went. I assume they are workout partners as they left together leaving the gym. I walk to the mirror and two younger girls are putting up their hair after working out, and by after I mean they appear sweaty and tired.

I walk to the treadmill section and begin walking slowly to observe. There are 6 females running, 3 females walking, 5 men running and 2 men walking. A busy day indeed. Most of the women except for two are wearing headphones, either listening to their own music or tuned into the TV's that surround the gym. The 5 walkers are older, the rest are middle aged or younger. They all appear to be either looking at the stats on the treadmill or the TV's. One female actually reading a magazine, like running is a piece of cake.

I look to the section where there is 4 bench press stations. Males dominate the entire section. Why is that? When a group of guys are done with the machine, more come to take their place. It is a popular section where they can use a heavyset amount of weights.

To the right is the dumbbell area. Once again dominated by males. They are all training with 40lbs and up. The males all seem to talk and socialize with one another at this section whereas the females keep to themselves with headphones in.

Towards the front of the gym is where you can find most of the women. This is the part of the gym where they have equipment where you focus on specific workouts, nothing like the dumbbell or bench press which are very versatile. They all have headphones in, looking at the ground while using the machine.

One, two, three, four, five, rest. Repeated four times. This was the workout of an older women, Mrs. White, working the bicep machine to herself in the corner of the room. She then cleans her station and moves on to the next.

Mr. Applebottom in the opposite corner however, seems to not be doing any reps at all. He sits in the massage chair and watches people walk by him for about 20 minutes.

20 minutes passed, and the man left the chair. The gym did not seem to die down, it just got more busy. The perks of a 24 hour gym.
