Coffee Crazed Pt 2

Week 2 observations
The same sweet aroma pours out of the shop as I open the heavy doors. I immediately see the same manager as last week, frantically rushing to and fro behind the counter. A young couple study what I believe is quantum mechanics (after overhearing conversation between them) and drink tea while they hold each other’s hands. The inside of the shop is almost overflowing with customers so all the employees are focused on giving them the best service possible.

One customer, a girl who has dyed her hair bright blue, is visually upset and seems to be frustrated that her drink has not been made yet. As the amount of customers dies down she finally gets her order and walks back to the corner where she has her computer set up and jumps into some work, wearing unique headphones full of more vibrant colors which make her head look like a rainbow. Her friend, who has normal hair walked in and sat down across from her, but they didn’t even acknowledge each other’s presence. The friend of rainbow head simply sat down across form her, pulled out her laptop and earphones, and jumped into her own work.

There is a short hefty man with glasses who has sprawled himself out on the couch and has denied anybody else the ability to get comfortable. He is reading a book and looks as though he has been for hours, lost in the words printed on the page in front of him.  Another man, who had full sleeves of tattoos and dressed like a skater form the early 2000’s approached the couch with the intent of sitting down and reading his own book, but the hefty man looked up at him and went back to his book, blowing off the other man completely and leaving him to look for another place to sit.

Three students occupy the tables that line the wall of the shop, two of them, the females, are studying, drinking tea and seem to never get distracted, on the other hand, the male student has all of his textbooks scattered across the table but is obviously viewing funny videos on YouTube as he is uncontrollably grinning instead of focusing on his school work. The employees have returned to the joking manner they had last week as the amount of customers at the bar has dwindled down to none. The manager has disappeared into the back of the shop and the other workers are tossing an apple back and forth and are all discussing their favorite sports teams.

As soon as the manager emerged from the back the employees quickly dropped the fruit and assumed their stations, regaining a more serious tone. At this moment the same group of Middle Eastern men from last week barged through the door, once again laughing and having a lively conversation in their native tongue before stopping and looking at the menu. They seemed to take forever to realize what they want, and as they tried to pronounce the words in English properly the employee taking their order was very patient. I realized that just as last week, they came in wearing sweatpants flip flops and t-shirts, looking very comfortable and they brought their laptops and took over a corner of the store. Many of the customers often glanced over at the group whenever they would burst into laughter.

As I began to pack up my things the couple who was studying walked out quickly and the man with the sleeve tattoos went and sat down where they were before to read his book. Walking out I could still hear the laughter of the Middle Eastern men from the back of the shop and wondered if they would be here next week.
