gloomy sky

walking in the building was calming with the dull cloudy sky which most people here love because we hardly get this weather. I'm at one of about 20 booths lined up against the long wide windows. From here i see 6 people siting seperately at their own table at the center of this lounge area which is a bit odd considering it's more of a food court. Most students seem to use this area to get in some study time or to finish homework. A couple people here and there buy a bag of chips or a tea at the snack bar.

The workers at the snack bar seem to irritated particularly at this time of table, probably because of all the customers they have to "deal" with. One worker which is blonde is organizing the drinks in a certain order. The more expensive brands are lined up front and the cheaper behind. The other two workers seem to know each other personally, it's possible they are family. The younger is male, and is working the cash register while the older female is in the back room possibly organizing the stock room. They both speak to each other in "spanglish". Through their fast speaking i can make out a sentence or two in which i found out the she's his mother.A lot of family speak to each other in this type of language. I walk to the snack bar to order a snack and and as my turn to order arrives the cashier replies "what do you want dude" which is common vocabulary among teens. I suspect he uses these words because how young i look and the type of clothing i am wearing. Had i been wearing a suit or other formal wear. i believe he would have spoken differently. We tend to choose certain vocabulary depending on who we see. It is an almost always reliable way to know how to communicate to a person.

As i walk back to my seat i find that most if not all the people in my direction stare at me as i finally take a seat. It seems that they are bored enough to find entertainment in simply watching others actions. I've noticed that i also often do that when i come to this area.

Outside through the windows i can see a woman in orange take a seat on a cement bench. She's eating a peach which i don't see too often around here. By her facial expression it looks as though she is enjoying the weather. Not many sit outside like that. I would have except the bench is too dirty to set my notebook on and plus i only have a few minutes before class.
