After making a few trips to my field site, I have began to notice the same groups of people going around the same time as before. A group of girls I see very often near my room always eats lunch around 1:30 almost every day. There are three girls in the group, and always wear shorts and tank tops. They sit in the same general area each time they eat lunch. It's safe to say that these girls all get out of class at 1:20 and meet for lunch every day.
The group of athletes I encountered a few weeks ago made an appearance again as well. They all sat in the same area, still sporting their team shirts. None of the boys were drinking soda, they all drank water or Powerade. Last time I saw them, it was a Friday afternoon. I have come to the conclusion that they have games during the weekend, so they wear their team shirts to show spirit.
A group of engineers sat in the corner booth. I have never seen these people before. There were three boys, wearing NMSU College of Engineering shirts, and two girls wearing floral printed tops. It was very obvious that the two girls were giggling in flirtation.
The workers were out again, cleaning tables. Last week, the only workers around were those serving food. Since I observed on a Friday again this week, I noticed more workers walking around, interacting with each other, all very happy and animated. None of the workers looked unhappy, every time I have seen them, they all appear very content with life. They are always smiling and laughing, never looking tired of work.
I have discovered that going on the same day around the same time every week leads to seeing similar people. Since students have a very cut schedule during the week, it is probable that they will eat lunch around the same time every day, making it easier for me to observe groups of individuals.
