No More Mirrors

The other day I was too lazy to go to the big gym so I went to the small gym to work out this time. The first thing I noticed was that there was only one mirror, a very small one at that. Now because this gym I much smaller than the other one with a lot of mirrors there weren’t as many people working out there. I proceeded to start my work out and get on the stair master and then I started people watching. It was completely different than being at the big gym because everyone used the mirrors, but the little gym was just so different.

Because there weren’t several mirrors to use to people watch this made it hard for me and the other people that were in there. I noticed that the people working out there still people watched. They just had to do it differently because there were no mirrors there to help them. It’s kind of hard to people watch without mirrors, people catch you people watching. One thing that really stuck out to me was that there were only girls at this small gym.

This is where people watching gets complicated. Girls can turn something small into the biggest deal, ever. People watching at the little gym then turned into girls staring at each other work out. It was so awkward and uncomfortable because now it looked like I was giving these other girls dirty looks. I then noticed I was not the only girl people watching in the small gym. Every girl there was people watching like I was.

I couldn’t help but wonder if it was because we were all girls or because there were only a few of us there. I was people watching to see what these other girls were people watching for. I noticed one girl who was on the bike kept staring at the girl on the elliptical, for no reason. The girl on the elliptical got up and left and the girl on the bike followed her with her eyes until she had left. It was weird how now they had to people watch differently.

The one small mirror was still being used just not as much because it was so small. Without the big mirrors the girls in the small gym were forced to people watch in a different way. Which happened to be just staring at the people you were people watching without getting caught people watching.
