PARKING WEEK2

Now that we are beginning our fourth week of school, I have observed that, even though traffic is still horrible and parking is equally the same, there seems to be less of a stress to find parking in the mornings. From my observations this past week, I still have to be at the Barnes and Noble’s parking lot by 8 or 8:10 because by 8:20 and 8:30 there are no parking’s left at all! I still see people driving around the lot as if someone is going to be leaving the lot at 8:30, which no one ever does because it is morning and the beginning of classes! That’s one thing I have seen a lot of. People still drive around early in the mornings, multiple time around the lot thinking that someone by some miracle is going to leave. And I don’t understand why they wasted their time because no one is ever leaving at 8:30 AM. Everyone is getting there at 8:30 AM.

The best way to find parking at the busiest lot (which I think is Barnes and Noble) is to get to the lot 10 minutes before class starts (only if it is after the first class of the morning). I have notice that a few people that get out of class leave at this time and there are usually one or two parking spaces available at this time. I have also noticed that when I am walking in the lot some people tend to follow me in their cars as if I am going to leave, which is true (that I am leaving) but sort of uncomfortable to have someone follow me in their car! People are like vultures when it comes to finding parking on campus!

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays my last class is closest to the Skeen Hall lot. So it’s easier for me to find a parking there and to walk to my first class which takes about ten minutes to get there. Usually these two big lots aren’t difficult to find parking at. It’s Barnes and Nobles and O’Donnell that you need to get there early for if you want a close parking to your classes.

The good thing about having the earliest class in the morning is being able to get dibs on parking. But even then, you still have to make sure you get to the lot by a certain time, before all the other early birds snatch the parking spaces. It is not as troublesome to find parking way down by Skeen Hall in those two big lots. There are usually parking spaces available throughout the day but I think it is because they are way the heck at the end of the campus. I have determined from my observations that sometimes you just have to park at the farthest available parking and walk 10-15 minutes to class instead of deal with the hassle of fighting for parking. But if you have the patience to get to campus really early and maybe have time to observe the different patterns of parking space availability, finding parking is a breeze. And finding parking close to your classes is somewhat possible.
