Pumpkins, Kittens, and Homework, OH MY!

This week at the little coffee shop it was a fall wonderland in the midst of frantic college students.

When I walked up the steps of the shop, I stopped dead in my tracks. There was a man with a box of kittens who was encouraging people to hold the kittens. Of course I just had to stop and indulge in the fluffy box of happiness. The man had a beanie and was a really chill guy, extremely laid back.

After the excitement of the kittens passed I walked into the shop. The smell of pumpkin spice was overwhelming, and unlike last week, the crowd was mainly college students studying and doing homework. I first noticed this guy around 20 with a coffee in his hand and a look of defeat in his eyes. He was over that assignment. I walked to the line and ordered my drink. The worker was abnormally peppy and ready for work. She said the word "alrighty" a little too much. I couldn't decide whether of not she was just a naturally happy person, or if she was working with a supervisor but either way she convinced me. The shop was quite with the occasional murmurs. There was a table with a guy and a girl studying a science subject and testing each other. The couch has three people with headphones and on their laptops just scrolling and typing. The next table had the struggling student. The last customers were two girls, one on social media occasionally rolling her eyes and chuckling, the other was just reading and highlighting a huge textbook.

You could tell the students were starting to get stressed out now that the semester is in full swing. The fun of the new semester has come to an end now students are struggling and hoping to keep their goals. Although this is a Sunday afternoon, a day most homework is due, I'm sure the kids aren't too busy; a few murmurs were about parties and plans for the big UNM game this weekend. It will be interesting to see how next week plays out.
