We’re On Each Other’s Team

Week 3

This week instead of trying to focus on the conversations of socialize hall, I decided to look for some patterns that I have noticed these past couple of weeks.

First, the times people prefer to go. Whenever its early afternoon on a nice day it seems like the only athletes here are the ones that prefer to actually get their work done and out of the way. There are less people in at these times which cause fewer distractions for some people. Whenever it gets closer to night time is when everyone who wants to socialize chooses to go. These people don’t even attempt to take out any work because they know they won’t be able to get anything done.

Second, the cliques. When at socialize or dead hall, no one ever wants to be alone. You either go with someone you know, or don’t go at all. No, not really. But majority of the time the athletes that are in the same room together are usually on the same team. This is not always the case, but it has been a reoccurring thing. People are always more comfortable when around other people they already know which is probably why people have such a hard time getting any work done because they are surround by friends.

Finally, the weather. It was very rainy this week and there were of course not a lot of people there when I went just like when it was gloomy last week. When the weather was sunny however, there were so many athletes the place was as packed as a sold out concert. Not sure if the hot and cold weather plays an important role in the attendance of people that decide to come, but it has so far.

The biggest thing that I noticed this week was the way each team tends to claim a room as their own. One person may start out in a room, but their team will always find and come and join them. And they definitely make sure to let everyone know that they are on each others team.
