Am Not A Stalker

The gloomy clouds have been present since yesterday. No rain has fallen though till now. Little rain drops dance in the delight of the freedom to fly. One of nature’s wonders and no one seems to notice nor care. The people present are not threatened by the ominous grey clouds or the rain drops. They still wear shorts and tank tops.

Most people present are in their own world. They are more focus on the day’s task and accomplishing them. Every other person is listening to their portable music players through ear phones. Do more people vie for earphones rather than headphones? In this case yes they do. I have only spotted one person using headphones with at least seven others using earphones. One explanation could be of course what if today was just an earphone kind of day or everybody was in a hurry and forgot the headphones? I would believe that.

A twenty-something year old wearing a beige shirt and black shorts enters the clearing. Beige Girl holds what appears to be a coffee cup in one hand and the other hand is holding a phone to her face. There may juice in the cup. It is too late in the afternoon to be drinking coffee. On the other hand it would explain her exuberant behavior. She talks loudly enough her echo could be hear from the farthest point of the plaza. She is too interested in the conversation to notice how loud she is talking.

As a respond to the Beige Girl’s echo, the clock tower starts to chime but even the thunderous sound could not silence her. Beware the power of coffee in the afternoon.

Clink. Clink. Clink. Clink. The clinking of keys announces the arrival of a guy wearing beige chino pants. Chino Man is calmly walks across the clearing while talking on the phone. He talks so quiet that one would not even notice he was on the phone unless you were sitting down and observing people for your Anthropology class.

A maintenance vehicle drives through the clearing. No one seems bothered by it. A young man wearing a faded green cap sits across, under a tree. Green Cap seems relax as he reads something. He could possibly be drawing something. No the position he is in would not be the best position to draw. Nonetheless he is lost in another world. The sprinkling of rain does not faze him.

An older women wearing a sweater jacket comes out of one of the surrounding buildings. Sweater Lady walks to the middle and stands under the trees. Another women wearing a maroon t-shirt shouts to Sweater Lady, “Happy Friday!” Sweater Lady and Maroon Shirt talk from a distance. Maroon disappears into a building. Sweater Lady starts smoking. Another women wearing a Blue Shirt comes from the building Maroon disappeared into. Blue Shirt says hello to Sweater Lady and she leaves.

Sweater Lady sits down a couple tables from me. She opens a book and starts to read through it. A few minutes later she checks her phone. The smell of smoke is faint in the air.
