Row Row Row Your Boat

Plenty of fun things went on at my field site, which is good because I thought it might end up being too boring. I consecutively go there during the day and at night. Its just a spot I generally like, but it's not just an hour at a time which I hope is appropriate as well to post about.

After my lab, I saw some students actually rowing in this pond. At first I was like, "oh hey cool! I didn't know they would do that for their club or whatever," but later I just realized how sad it is there's no water to boat in around here and they are reduced to this pond. It was so cute, they even had little buoys in the water. There was two boats and one was rowing and getting around but I don't know what was up with the other, they couldn't figure out how to go. And of course there was a supervisor on the ground, and a couple other people around including me just watching or eating lunch, hanging out, like usual.

At night, I'm surprised how many people come out to lay down, talk, or play in the water. One group came and brought their hookah and sat down to smoke, Quite envious. After awhile they just laid down in the grass and hung out. Some people just say for a few minutes, especially if they are alone, but the groups or pairs of people usually stay for a long time.

During the day I usually see people eating and I always forget to bring food. In late afternoon the sun hits the water in a way it basically blinds you, but its nice to see the shine come off the water. I wish it was more green around though. You would think the water would make it green around but it's kinda not. It has some dead patches but I think its from people walking around on it often.

Well I'm happy I saw something unusual happen because it's pretty typical for people to eat and hangout by a pond. I did notice though everyone is happy or at least content when they are there. So I want to look out to see if anyone ever gets mad or upset when they are there or if it really is somewhere you come to feel better.

How does no one get bug bites either? I somehow have a ton on the back of my left leg but I don't remember getting them after my study, I do remember getting eaten up visiting the nearby apartments but not at the pond. One of my friends refuses to go with me because he would die. He sat down for less than five minutes and had bites all over him: arms, torso, legs, you name it. I felt so bad, it doesn't happen to me so I didn't even think about it.   He did say that though walking up that he was afraid of mosquitoes like he knows they're coming for him. I do want to buy bug spray just to make sure I don't get them.
