Hostile Territory

This weekend my field experience was quite dangerous, I crossed behind enemy lines so to speak and did something quite reckless to get the information I am about to share with you. This Saturday I attended a UTEP tailgate party in all Aggie attire, the mission itself was quite dangerous and once I got into the parking lot I realized I had made a huge mistake. The jeers started the second I walked in but lucky for me I have A thick skin and I brushed it off, at first when i walked in everyone but my cousins was ignoring me. There was a sea of orange and blue with tiny specks of maroon freckled in the crowd. My cousin and I joined a group of my of his old highschool friends all drinking bud lights and socializing among themselves in a circle. My cousin and I joined the group, they greeted my cousin with drunkin joy and I was boo'd when I walked up but I smiled and and Said hello to everyone. Naturally I payed a little more attention to the cute girl in the group, but i quickly noticed she had a boyfriend and he was not very happy that I was talking to her, he came up and put his arm around her like he was marking his territory. I took this as a sign and went and talked with other utep students I knew. Most people greeted me with jeering towards my shirt but once they started to talk to me they got over the fact that I went to another school. Something I noticed there is that there is a direct correlation of how many beers a UTEP fan drinks and the friendlier they get towards NMSU fans. This is not the case in all fans some get more hostile the more they drink, I dealt with both. After awhile people started leaving for the game, myself included, there were much more Aggie fans inside the stadium and I felt much more at home.
