It was Halloween today in class, and for some reason I had no idea that these kids would actually enjoy dressing up at school for Halloween. I walked in, and I could see four of the students that were wearing a costume. Three of their costumes kind of had to deal with culture, and the other kids costume was pure comical because he was dressed up as a purple teletubbie and was in a big o'l poofy purple suit, and it was a little hot in the class so he wasn't wearing the head piece that came with it. One of the girls that was dressed up, wasn't really dressed up, but her face was painted, and it was half of a skull, very pretty if I may say, she even did her hair half way done too that had pink roses in it. Oh! and I almost forgot one of the students who was dressed as a priest. He was sitting in the back so that is why I never saw him.
The kids have been talking a lot about what they are going to be for Halloween. Which kind of surprised me because like in high school we never really talked about what we were going to be for Halloween, but to these kids. It was like the talk of the class. The other two boys that were dressed in a costume were dressed like cholos. With the bandannas on their heads, chains around their necks, and the top button on their fleeces buttoned. It was funny because they weren't even bad kids. Today just had that feeling of turning out to be a weird day. It really had that feeling of Halloween, a little spooky if I may say. Mr. Day is still a toss up because he has just been hole punching papers since the class started. I guess this was just to get the kids focused because they weren't told to do anything.
Once he finally got the class to calm down, and focused.they started to do a project that started with a poster today. I had no idea what they were doing because it was like they were continuing from the last class that they met. They are in groups for this project, and this project had to deal with the groups choosing how a ill or amendment is created and or developed. Where they get to show what kind of creativity, and artistic skills they have to take a boring over indulged topic, and make it pop. The group that was closes to me i noticed that they had one boy draw, and he was pretty good because it was a different approach to the idea that they told me they had. Not too shabby!
