Friendly Rivalry
It's a Sunday afternoon around 2. The gym is empty as it normally is on Sundays, but it has a mixture of people that I do not usually see on Sundays around this time. For the first part of my visit to the gym, I hadn't noticed anyone who really caught my eye as I normally do. So I decided to proceed with my workout and see if anyone caught my eye when I was done. Well sure enough as soon as I looked back to the TV to check the score of a football game, I notice that I am not the only one doing that. I see a younger man, about 20, not only watching the game but cheering on his team as he was running on the treadmill. So I made my way to the treadmill next to him to see what more I could learn about this guy. Well it was really obvious that he was a Giants fan (ew), and that he had two missions at the time being. 1. He was going to sprint thru his time on the treadmill and 2. He was going to cheer his team on and yell at the TV like he was on the sidelines at the game! This man was making sure everyone knew who his team was. So being the football I am I decided to strike a little conversation. I turned to the man and said "So you're a Giants fan huh?" and he responded with "Heck yeah I am! And what better way to watch the game than pretending that you are running with that ball?" I laughed and said "Well, good luck to your team." As he realized the shirt I was wearing with my favorite football team's logo on it, he slowed down his treadmill and said "Ohhhh a Cowboys fan...." with a huge smirk on his face. He continued on to say nice things about my team (which was surprising) and wished my team luck as well. When we were done talking he continued his workout while watching the game and no matter what side on the gym was on, I knew when he was happy or unhappy about a play, let's just say that!
