Homecoming Night

Tonight is a cold night. The moon is out and the weather is perfect for Football.

Tonight is homecoming day and that means it is football day. Today New Mexico State will be playing Louisiana for their homecoming.

I will not be attending the game, instead I shall sit outside my dorm and observe what people are doing and what noises I hear. With these observations I will be making I might be able to conclude how the game is going.

It is seven o-clock now and the game had started at six. I have been watching as people walk down the halls of Garcia and the types of expressions they carry on their faces. I am also able to listen up on some of the noises coming from the game over at the stadium.

Across the hall on the third floor three guys and two girls are all dressed in crimson colors, wearing sweatshirts and beanies. They are walking to the nearest exit to go down the stairs. This is at about a quarter past seven.

I hear announcements coming down from the game. Someone must have scored a touchdown. However, there is no telling which team scored.

On the first floor there is one guy walking alone. He is announcing to the rest of us on b-block that the game is not over yet. He keeps repeating that NMSU is still in the game and that we still have a chance. From this I can conclude that we must be down on points. However, we must not be that far down on points if this guy is saying that we still stand a chance on winning. The guys walks into his room to grab a jacket and then swiftly leaves out the nearest exit. My guess is that the game must be at half time. This guy looks like quite the fanatic judging by the enthusiasm and confidence he had in his voice when he talked about the game, so I doubt he would walk all the way over here and miss some of the game. He must have seen an opportunity to leave at half time to get a jacket due to the cold weather, and return to the game before third quarter starts.

It is about a quarter till eight and there is not much to see at b-block anymore. I stay still to make sure I catch the noises coming from the crowd. So far I have heard about three announcements that sounded like the results of a touchdown.

Hopefully some of those were from us.

It is nine o-clock now and I hear the door open on the third floor. The same people I had seen leave earlier are now returning. I begin to assume that the game is now over, but I then hear more announcements coming from the game for yet another touchdown. Judging by the expressions on their faces, I do not believe we are doing quite well. They must have left the game earlier due to acceptance of defeat. I then call over to the group of people walking down the third floor and I ask them for the results of the game.

They said we were down five touchdown

Better luck next year NMSU.
