Homesick
Another evening in Las Cruces, as I wake up at 4:30 p.m wishing I was in California. It's hot and sunny outside the dorm. As the sun creeps through the blinds makes my eye squint. I'm feeling home sick and still tired. People outside yelling and playing around like little kids. As I walk and take a look outside I feel like I don't belong here. No matter how excited I was about college life I was homesick. I was happy to leave the state but college life sounded fun to me. At the same time I wasn't ready to leave because my family was going to be missed. Even the freshmen that were closer to home than I was missed there hometown. Many of them could find themselves struck with homesickness but never admitted it. Moving away from home for the first time, adjusting to a college, time management, workload of homework and setting up a brand new daily routine all take place. Sometimes, all you want to do is crawl into your non-twin XL bed with a freshly made home cooked meal. A lot of the students on campus don’t have the luxury of just heading home whenever they feel like it, so when you’re missing home. What are you to do ?
