Halloween is finally here.
The Silver Dollar is a notoriously "creepy" restaurant, and so we always look forward to this time of year (between Halloween and Dia De Los Muertos we get tons of spooky time).
Dressing up at my work is basically a requirement, and this year I went as Mary Poppins. It was simple and cheap, and it seemed to be a hit.
I arrive right on time and get three tables right away. My first table is highly amused by my costume, and everyone's costume for that matter. They are polite and joke around with me in the halloween spirit.
My next table is the exact opposite. They are unimpressed with the whole ordeal and just want to speed through their order and get out of the restaurant.
It seemed as if these are the categories that most of the patrons for the evening fell into.
We were exceptionally busy this Friday night, and many of the patrons had to wait for a table, pushing them to the bar. If there is more than a 15 minute wait the customers tended to have a couple drinks at the bar to pass the time. This consumption of alcohol tended to amplify the formerly mentioned "categories" of attitudes.
Those who consumed alcohol on average tended to be more festive, and more likely to comment on the decorations and costumes.
Those who waited and refrained from drinking seemed more reserved, and more irritated by the wait, and therefore the atmosphere as a whole. That being said they were still probably easier to serve.
Long story short much drinking was done Friday night, and it brought out very polarized aspects of our customers.
