The Clown, the King, and the 10 Piece

The date is 10/30/14, yes that is right, it’s Halloween! While I did not anticipate doing a field work for this date I was called in to work tonight. The time is 5:00pm and it is insanely busy. People are coming in droves of groups and we have a mere 3 people to fulfill everyone’s food request here at Royalty Burger.

Halloween is truly part of American culture as even I had just gotten out of costume in preparation for work. Everyone eating and ordering is in the highest of spirits and most are in costume. Some of the most common costumes are zombies, skeletons, princesses, and little children in animal costumes.

It is now 5:15pm and we have noticed an extreme increase in large orders. Typically we only have a relatively small number of large orders a night, however it feels like tonight everyone has an insatiable hunger. Almost every car is ordering at least one combo meal and we have had a few that ordered upwards of 6 combo meals for one car.

One memorable order was when someone ordered a mere 10 piece chicken nugget and I knew something was unusual. I anticipated pranks and whatnot tonight, but what I got was even more memorable. Royalty had driven up! A man wearing our store’s key figure had appeared at my window. He waited to roll down his tinted window until the last moment and made the impact of it all the more memorable! All 3 of us working there took a look shook his hand and returned to work with our spirits livened a bit. Soon after he entered the store as though the Drive-Thru but a prologue and unsurprisingly ordered a feast fit for kings.

Not long after that I had a chance to take a good look at the lobby. The store was trashed, as we had not time or people to spare, but no one seemed to care at all. Also, it looked as if heaven, hell, and the earth had mixed all at once and they were having a crazy party. We even had a group of werewolves, or should I say a pack of werewolves, ask us to “bump that shit up” in reference to the Halloween music we had playing. I was somewhat saddened when our manager had decided against it.

It is now 8pm and everyone entering still appears to have enough energy to rage on ‘till the break of dawn. Whenever I get a chance I take another good look at the lobby to observe new costumes and this time I saw an incredible costume…but it was of a sad clown that resembled one I had seen long ago in a horror movie. It was the clown from “It” and I was paused for a moment. I had watched this movie in secret when I was little and ever since I have had an innate dislike of clowns. I got the “heebie jeebies” and returned to work. I decided not to look back until after work.

In conclusion everyone and there pet werewolf were dressed up tonight and it was a whole lot of fun, but extremely busy here at Royalty Burger!
