Time to Say Goodbye

“So this is it? Toy store is really closing?” That was the first thing out of Star Lord’s mouth when he walked into toy store. A few days ago, Mr. Piccolo had given everyone the news that the owners of the toy store have decided to close down. The day that everyone knew was coming has finally came. Except everyone was hoping that it never would.

In the toy store was Star Lord, Mr. Piccolo, Fuji, who an old friend of both Star Lord and Mr. Piccolo, and myself. No one else had decided to come for the closing of the toy store. It is a Wednesday, so everyone else usually has plans on days like this. The three guys reminisce about the years they spent here. They recall the people they met, the relationships that were formed, and the memories that were made. The tone of the nearly empty store is one of sadness.  The guys laugh at the memories, but you can hear the sadness in their voices. While I know they will never admit, they all hoped that somehow the store would make it.

While they share the good memories, some bad memories start to shed their light. They talk about the times the owners have “screwed people over”. They share about how they continued to take orders even though they knew they were closing and those people would never get their products. Also about how the owners did not call any of the people who had placed orders and were going to take their money. The guys became angry at how the owners were so incompetent because they believed this store had the possibility of being really great and last a lot longer than what it would have.

After they share some memories, the guys decide that it is time to go. They have nothing else to do in this store. But before they go, they want to take one last picture in the store. They wanted me to be in the picture, so I agreed. That was the last memory the guys made in the store. We all head outside and say our final goodbyes. They all say that they will continue to hang out, but it feels like the possibility of that happening are low. Everyone lives separate lives, and now that there is no common ground for them to meet up at they might not see each other again. Mr. Piccolo heads to his car to go home to his wife. Fuji gets in his car to head home to his girlfriend. Star Lord and I get in the same car so he is able to drive me home. I look back one last time to see the lit sign of the toy store. We will not be able to go in there again. Star Lord tells me to wave bye to it. I laugh at him, but agree to do wave with him. The store now only becomes a part of our past.
