With the Help of Miri

Week 10:

My stomach was growling much louder than usual, and since I didn’t want hunger to consume my thoughts while attending my field site, I decided to pick up some food on my way over. I hopped out my friend’s car with my backpack on my right shoulder and a bag of food in my left arm and walked into the deep night that surrounded socialize hall. I remembered from the last time I brought food with me that there was only one room that I was allowed to eat in, party room.

Since my friend that dropped me off didn’t bring in any food with her she went on ahead to find one of the single rooms so she would be without distractions. I on the other hand was sentenced to the chaos bound to happen in the party room. As I walk into party I immediately find my acquaintance Apple on one of the couches and decide to sit with her while I eat my food. The room was not as loud as I had expected it to be partially because not many people were in it at this time. Then I remembered that it was only so dark outside because of the mysterious ways of daylight savings time. The time I thought it to be was much earlier than the time it actually was. Furthermore, another hour would have to pass before this room was the party room I knew it to be. And boy was I right.

An hour later, my food is gone and I am still in party room sitting on the couch next to Apple. Apple had been doing homework the whole time for the most part, but as soon as the Funny Boys came in all hope for anyone doing homework was lost. The funny boys came in like the owned the room and just created havoc. They all dispersed among the room with what seemed to be with the purpose of distraction everyone in the room. Some would tell jokes, others would pick fits, and the rest just talked and talked. It seemed to be a game of who could be the loudest in the room, but there was no apparent winner. Noise of different conversations filled the air and finally the Alpha of the funny boys made them come into a circle so he could show that he was the main attraction.

After all of the little puppies of the funny boys circled around the Alpha he took out his phone and began to talk to Miri. Miri, is a database on phones that gives you answers to almost all of your question. Alpha thought it would be funny to have a conversation with Miri about how he’s depressed and on the verge of committing suicide. He was not at all serious about what he was saying but since Miri is just a computer she couldn’t tell and decided to give him the number of a suicide hotline. When the alpha decided to disregard what Miri was giving him she decided to take matters into her own hand and call the hotline on his phone. That’s when alpha decided to stop playing games and ended the circle time between him and all his little funny boys.

Since everything seemed to be dying down, I decided to leave my friend Apple and head on over to group room number one. There were only two people in this room, and one of them was my friend Ratch. Ratch is one of the funniest people that I know and is hardly ever quiet. Seeing him actually do work in this room put me in total shock and I didn’t want to ruin this moment by observing him. Even the loudest people have to get their work done sometimes.
