I
woke up on Friday morning with nothing but breakfast on my mind. I decided it
was time to get out of bed to treat myself to breakfast at Taos. Fancy, I know.
I was greeted warmly at the doors of Taos by the workers who slid my I.D. and
let me in. The smell of bacon and syrup flooded my nose as I walked over to the
food.
Unfamiliar
faces filled the room as I piled food on my plate. After I get my coffee I sit
down at a table by myself and enjoy my well-deserved breakfast. Across from me
is a few football players downing they’re breakfast. They’re both wearing
athletic gear and have books at their table with them. I’m guessing that they’re
both freshman like myself.
To
the left of me is a guy sitting by himself. He’s wearing jeans and a hoodie, he
seems to be enjoying his breakfast as well. He’s definitely not eating as much
as the football players are. He looks like a freshman too. I assume most of the
people in Taos are. Most of the older people don’t go to Taos because they live
off campus and don’t need meal plans.
On
my right are two girls getting fruit and oatmeal together. They’re both dressed
nice and have their hair and make-up done. I’m assuming that this is because it’s
Friday. I notice that most guys don’t mind going to eat by themselves. Girls on
the other hand, refuse to sit alone or even go to the bathroom by themselves. I
didn’t see any girls sitting by themselves eating breakfast.
This
isn’t only in Taos. I notice it everywhere I go. Guys don’t really seem to mind
sitting or eating by themselves. When you see a girl out somewhere she’s hardly
ever alone. Whether she’s with a guy or a girl, girls always have someone with
them. Some people find it embarrassing to go anywhere or do anything by
themselves. Which I find strange.
I
continue to eat my breakfast and coffee by myself, minding my own business. In
comes another pair of girls. I smile a bit, thinking to myself that my theory
is right on point. I take my dirty plate and cup to be cleaned and head to
class.
