College

As we all know college is different from High School. Not only the curriculum but the people, the teachers, the atmosphere and pretty much everything about it. College is also much more different for you if you’ve moved away from home to go to college somewhere else. Living on your own is something new to most of us freshman in college. This also worries some parents, they worry about their children being responsible and safe while being at college on their own.

While sitting in class surrounded by 20, sometimes 30 other people you tend to notice what kind of different people there are in college. You can kind of tell who went out the night before and who actually pays attention in class. There’s so many types of different people in all of my classes. I almost pay more attention to the people in my class more than I do to the actual class.

It was the other day that I was noticing all of the different types of students. When class tends to get a little boring I tend to look around and let my mind wander somewhere else. I have to admit I’m on my phone an awful lot but not as bad as some of the people I have in class. I have this one guy in one of my afternoon classes who doesn’t even look up from his phone to at least try and listen or understand what we’re learning.

Then there’s your stoners who come to class that think they’ve drowned the stench in cologne or perfume. Of course in college your parents aren’t here to keep an eye on you if you live on your own. Which gives you the people who go on a Sunday and go to class hung over, skin stained with the sins they committed the night before. Of course just like High School you have the people who are more than focused in all of their classes trying to keep their perfect GPA.

It’s so obvious, they all stand out in different ways. You’ve got the sorority girls and frat guys of course. Who could forget about them? You can just tell how they are by what they do in class. Never judge a book by its cover but you can definitely insinuate the type of student they are by the things they do in class. People at this university come from all over the world, which is cool to see.

You get to see how people from different countries do things. It’s a cool experience to hear them all talking in their own language around campus. I have a guy in my class who didn’t even speak English before he came here. It’s inspiring to see these people make an effort in school and an effort to try and pick up our American ways. College is cool but college is also very different.
