Football Games and After Parties

For this weeks blog I went to a game that is the biggest rivalry in the nation in my opinion. The mayfield/cruces football game is and will forever be my favorite game because it brings over 30 thousand fans for a high school game. This is a great game that i had the opportunity to play in during my high school years.

The football game was a great one that ended in a 28-27 victory for my alma mater Mayfield High School. During the game i sat on the mayfield side of course and i was able to get a lot of good notes. The group i was with sat next to the student section where to my surprise there were a lot of recent alumni sitting in that section. During the game there was not a lot of hate towards the cruces side until after the final whistle blew. During this time the teams went to mid field to shake hands. The mayfield student section rushed the field to celebrate the victory and at this time one of the Las Cruces High players punched the mayfield coach in the face. This set off a brawl that no one was expecting at the moment. After this there was a lot of hostility in the crowds for each side and there was a lot of arguing out in the parking lots. At that point i decided to leave to go eat with my friends.

After the game we went to go eat at a local 24/7 diner where we saw a lot of people from the game wearing their favorite schools gear. There was a lot of friendly commotion going on and there was no drama, well among the customers that is. Since there was a packed restaurant the servers were overwhelmed which caused a lot of mistakes on their part and the chefs part. We waited for an hour for our food and even when it came some of what they brought us was wrong. So we decided to eat quick and get out of there. I did not tip the man a great amount because the service was terrible.

After dinner we went to a few parties that had a lot of people. There was one party i went to that seemed to be great until the drama kicked in. Once i got there i was wearing my mayfield shirt and some guys who were cruces alumni were eyeballing me like i was on the field beating their favorite school. Well they were wrong, I embarrassed their team 3 years ago, and they knew who i was. They went to confront me and i could immediately smell the alcohol coming from them. I was ready to do what ever i had to do to defend myself.  As they confronted me trying to start some business i told them they need to get over high school and grow up. That really ticked them off so they decided to be cool guys, put their beers down while taking off their shirts to fight me. I laughed at this point because they stood no chance, i was sober and they were smaller than me. The host of the party saw what was going down and kicked them out but made sure they had a ride home. After these gentlemen left the atmosphere of the party changed and everyone started having more fun trying to enjoy their friday night. The night ended there for me because i was really tired and did not want to drink so i went home.
