The evening rolls in cold as ever and I am beginning to realize tonight I will likely see people more dressed than last weeks show. Once again, I am here on time. I hear tonight is supposed to be "positive" and "fun". Let's hope so. After the Halloween show, I can't imagine any other show being any more fun. The usual promoters are here. It seems as though they have transitioned back into their series promoter attitudes. They are ready to get the night rolling.
The aftermath of Halloween is still alive and well. I see a mask, some alcoholic beverages, and other pieces of what was once a Halloween costume lying on the floor. Orange lights dangle from the holes in the ceiling. I begin to think about it, and it must be Halloween in here all year round. Given the scary atmosphere in the venue, it is not the most inviting place but the people make up for it.
Surprisingly, people are arriving quickly. I see quite a bit of new faces. These people look somewhat more approachable than the usual and I'm wondering what this will say about the music tonight. I have read pop punk is a positive music genre. I am excited for these tunes. It is a small crowd but the turn out is much larger than usual local shows. Still shocked by the unfamiliar faces, I stand up and join the group of supporters in the crowd. It is surprising to know that no matter how many times I come here, I see new faces, and some regulars of course. I think this place tries to cater to all types of underground music.
A short line up, the bands begin to play. Kids jump on one another's back and gang vocals with the lead singer take place. I also observe another form of dancing. It seems as though bouncing and bending ones knees is the way to dance to music like this. Needless to say I enjoyed myself once again tonight.
