This week I went to Great American and it was delicious! Pricey but it was pretty good. Anyway, this environment was different compared to the other restaurants I went to, there weren’t many children there, expect for one couple who had their daughter but she seemed like if she was the 6 or 7 years old already, and they sat kind of far away from everyone else. This place felt a little more serious than other places I had been too and I felt kind of weird to be honest, but I wasn't alone so it wasn't too bad. I can only imagine what I would’ve looked like sitting there by myself taking notes on a napkin. Luckily, my friend gave me a slap in the face and told me I was dumb and could’ve been taking notes on my phone through the memo app and I could’ve pretended I was texting. But I didn't want to fall into the I need technology 24/7 trend, especially when I’m eating. Food is more important to me!
There was an elderly couple sitting close by, they looked to be around 70 years old. They were sitting across from each other and he was holding her hand. It was such a beautiful sight to see! They sat quietly looking up at each other every now and then and ate in silence. I’m guessing they were celebrating her birthday because the waiter came out with a small cake and placed it in front of her. She cried a little and smiled and blew out her candle. They sat together some more before leaving and they talked amongst themselves.
The family of three that were sitting far away were talking to their daughter but I could still somewhat hear their conversation. The mom told the daughter that her body would tell her when she would need to go to the bathroom and the little girl replied that her body does speak to her when she needs to go. The mom corrected her and told her that her body wasn't really going to speak to her but it was more of a feeling. The little girl looking at her questionably and told her “a feeling?” This just reminded me how children can take everything so seriously and how amazing it is that they can still get the grasp of something even if they aren’t fully understanding it.
There was another table that seemed to be two couples because the man and the woman were sitting on each side and they would kiss each other on the cheek. I have a feeling that they were on a double date. Among every one here, they were the “loud ones” even though they weren’t really that loud. Both men were dressed in cowboy suits, they had their boots, plaid button up shirts, and their hats. One of them had a mustache that was pointed out to the sides. They seemed to fit in perfectly with this restaurant, not meaning to be offensive.
