The iPhone> The Essay
Tonights study started absolutely fantastic because the start of November starts the Holiday Season which means the Gingerbread Latte is back! Once I got my drink and settled down I started to look around. The couches and comfy seats and long tables were all occupied with students reading and typing away. The main thing I noticed is how often our generation check their phones. At least once every minute someone would check their phones for a text, tweet, or snap. We are absorbed in a social media haze. Also during the night I only witnessed one actual conversation and that was between an aspiring couple. I always thought that "going out for coffee" was just something that happened in Romantic Comedies but during this assignment I have seen a lot more coffee dates than I expected. This couple was sitting alone on the bar chatting away. The baristas were not the normal pissed off guys and replaced with a chipper manager guy and a young girl who looked lost the whole time. It's weird to think that all these college students sit in a coffee shop to do homework. The can go study for free in the library or in their rooms but instead a large group pay $5+ for one or more coffee to sit with other people to type or read alone with a lot of people. Funny how that works.
